Event Review – Dreamscape – 8th April Sanctuary

After a 2 hour drive to the Sanctuary at Milton Keynes, the last thing I wanted to see was a big queue, but there was and the night was still early Credit to the security, they were brilliant, they got people in quickly and they were very polite. Once inside I was greeted with the sounds of DJ Vibes who was kicking up a storm. As more people poured through the doors MC Marley picked up the mic to start the evening off. By the time it got to Vibes last track, the place was filling up nicely. Then entered the man like DJ Ramos on the wheels of steel. Ramos got the place kicking with his sounds of happy hardcore. When he dropped ‘Sunshine and Gotta Believe’ the remix, he almost lifted the roof off the building. There wasn’t in the air. Along with the wicked MC Marley and rude boy MC Digger, nearly everybody was dancing. As I walked around the venue I could see people were having a good time.

As the night went on the lasers got better, shame the sound system didn’t. It was nowhere near as loud as it has been in past Dreamscape events.

But the lasers and the music made up for the lack of loud sounds. The atmosphere was spot on. There was no attitude between blacks and whites, everybody was dancing in harmony. Just enjoying themselves. As the heat started to build up, I went upstairs to check out the other room, and was greeted by the sounds of Bryan Gee. Back downstairs it was time for LTJ Bukem. He played a very dark jungle set, which made a lot of people sit down, or go upstairs, to be truthful Bukems set was boring.

Dreamscape should not have Jungle at the Sanctuary because it’s not that type of venue. Jungle should be left to the likes of World Dance or Jungle Fever.

I think that Dreamscape should let the likes of Vinylgroover, or Druid a chance to play at big venues, because they play wicked happy hardcore and they are brilliant mixers, it’s a shame they have not been recognised by the likes of Dreamscape.

Anyway it’s time for Clarkee and he got the crowd stomping again with this mad Techno.

Then the man of the moment appeared, bring on the sounds of Slipmatt. Boy this bloke is fucking brilliant. He has all the best tunes and is a magnificent mixer (as you can tell he is my number 1 DJ). He just topped my night with a wicked set, it was absolutely brilliant. Blinding. Everybody was dancing again by now, and when he dropped S.M.D.3 the place just erupted and the noise was deafening.

As for the dancers on stage well all I can say is wow, they were gorgeous and boy could they dance, sod knows how the DJ’s could mix, being behind them.

Last up was SY, his scratching was not the best I have heard but he played pretty well. All in all it was a good night enjoyed by all I think.

If you have never been to Dreamscape then you don’t know what you are missing. Get yourself down to the next one, you will enjoy yourself.
