Rezerection Event 2
Royal Highland Showground – Ingliston, Edinburgh
What a drive…. 5 hours of maniac’s on the A1, miles
of single carriageway and 2 guest appearances on Scotland’s speeding
camera’s…. But boy was it worth it!
Yet again Scotland’s favourite prove that outdoor events are their
‘pierre de la resistance’. Security are always very polite and very
helpful at Rezerection events, and tonight was no exception,
although discrete they are always there when needed, full marks must
go to their attitude from arrival to finish.
The atmosphere at this event was something to be experienced, the
Scot’s really do know how to party. Although this event is licensed
for 16,500 people Rezerection feel that full capacity leaves limited
space for people to dance, therefore they restrict ticket sales to
12,500 and most outlets sold out about 2 weeks in advance. The buzz
created by the crowd was electric, everyone seemed to be having a
good one. My night could not have been better and was made even more
special as a very close friend of mine accompanied me that night so
a big shout to Paul Plumbinshki who was at his first big event and
thought this was the best night he had ever had.
The line-up boasted some of the world’s greatest DJ’s and producers,
including Lenny Dee, Richie Hawtin and Robert Leiner, to name just a
few. PA’s were supplied by The Ruffneck Alliance, The Source, Human
Resource, the list goes on, and everyone I saw that night performed
to an extremely high and commendable standard. The only problem I
had was choosing which tent to be in, two massive arenas offering a
wide selection of music proving the promoters cater for versatility.
The flyer advertised an impressive list of attractions, and so far
as I could see everything was there, and more. Bungee jumping for
those of you stupid enough to jump from the sky and pay a ridiculous
price for doing so, excellent production including a sound system
that seemed much better than previous Rezerection events. The whole
show was very professional and the customer had obviously been
thought of all along, even down to matting being laid on all
entrances to tents and anywhere it seemed necessary.
It’s nice to see that large companies such as Schuh and Tizer, have
had the intelligence to see these kind of events as an excellent way
of advertising, catering for a growing market, and giving support
for the youth of today. Nice one, it’s a shame the same doesn’t
happen in England, and proves why Scotland have lead the way this
year with large outdoor events.
So there you have it, a night with very few complaints, none worth
mentioning.
